The Hestercombe Estate (www.hestercombe.com), near Taunton in Somerset, is such a beautiful wedding venue with its Victorian manor house and 17th century Orangery for ceremonies. Come rain or shine, the orangery is perfect for your wedding photos. The house has the Formal Garden designed by Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll (not that I'm up on gardens but both very renowned garden designers in their day!). Nestled in tranquil countryside and boasting sweeping lawns, with the three stunning historic gardens and the iconic Orangery, Hestercombe is one of the most idyllic wedding venues in Somerset.
I love Hestercombe as a wedding venue, mainly because of the Orangery and gardens which are just so picturesque and romantic for your wedding photos. Couples and their guests have access to the entire grounds on the wedding day. Wedding breakfasts take place in Bampfylde Hall with its high ceilings and timber beams. You can have your ceremony or drinks reception in the Main Hall of the house where the grand sweeping staircase makes a real statement (and also lovely for photos).
The gardens include the Victorian Terrace which overlooks the formal gardens with bright colours and amazing views of Taunton and Somerset. It is a lovely space to walk through to your ceremony, and later for your guests to mingle with drinks and canapes.
And don't worry about somewhere to stay. Really nearby, Mill Meadow (www.millmeadow.co.uk) is the perfect rural retreat to escape, relax and refresh. A private and gated community with spacious, light-filled lodges and inviting hot tubs, it is the perfect place to house your bridal party and family/guests the nights before and of the wedding, and to have bridal/groom prep during the morning.
And I am only half an hour away!:) So perfect to come and photograph your wedding at one of my favourite wedding venues in the south-west.
More to come in my second blog about Hestercombe!
